Our Ground Chicken consists mostly of Breast meat. However, depending on how we choose to cut up each batch of Chickens, we may add thigh and drumstick meat as well. We primarily use our Cornish Cross breed, but depending on availability, we may add some of our Freedom Ranger breed.
As you can imagine, beyond the basic Chicken processing, it requires much more time for us to remove the bones, grind the meat, and package the Ground Chicken. The extra cost is simply to cover the extra time required for us to do this value-added convenience for you. In general, we have very little time for this value-added option and produce a limited supply.
In addition to what they find on the pasture, the Chickens used for Ground, are supplemented with Ben's Hens Standard Feed. See the Feed page for more information about Feed.
